I jumped on the opportunity a few weeks back to apply to be a part of the testing team for George & Ginger Pattern Company. I have been snatching up Kristi’s patterns recently due to her creativity and flare when it comes to women’s PDF patterns.
I often time see her patterns and think I don’t have what it takes to pull off her designs. Well, the newly released Confidence Collection made me realize that, yes, I can pull of her designs.
I cannot wait to show you all three patterns today and how I combined the patterns to fit my personal style.
First up, the Day Trip Skirt from the Confidence Collection combines comfort and style.
The pocket detail on the front of the skirt gives both visual interest and functionality.
This version was created from a fun floral liverpool from a Fast Fingers Sale with Pretty Posh Prints.
I paired the Day Trip skirt with my Road Trip Bodysuit. This black suit is made out of cotton Lycra from my local Walmart.
Even though my husband keeps calling it my “onsie,” the practicality of this bodysuit is amazing. I often times find myself not knowing what to pair with my high waisted me made bottoms. Most shirts add to much bulk and take away from the slimming effect of the high waist. So I just may make a bodysuit in every color.
The low cut of the back makes the bodysuit easy to climb into. It also makes for a great top to show off a bralette.
I also paired this solid black Day Trip with mint colored shorts from Old Navy for a more casual summer look.
I can move all around and bend without worrying if my shirt came up in the back. I have already thought about making one in white too to wear under tops for work.
The next Day Trip Bodysuit is also a cotton Lycra, but this time it’s one of Mel’s famous cotton Lycra solids from Purple Seamstress.
I love the length of the short sleeves. It works perfect for summer but can be used for layering year round.
This bodysuit is a snap crotch. (Your welcome for not showing that fun feature😉). The snap crotch allows you to use the bathroom without pulling the bodysuit all the way down. Snap crotch “onsies” aren’t just for babies anymore.
This salmon colorway matched an existing Patterns for Pirates Pirate Pencil Skirt I had made in this floral liverpool from Sincerely Rylee Fabrics.
Once again, the bodysuit helps the high waisted skirt accentuate my hour glass shape.
Because I have a lot of skirts but have been lacking the perfect top, I also tried out the body suit with my Mama Cassie skirt hack from Made for Mermaids.
Once again, Purple Seamstress solids (this time in ponte) helped round out the outfit.
The final pattern in the Confidence Collection is the Heat Wave Hot Pants. Y’all, seriously. I don’t like to wear shorts. I haven’t worn shorts consistently since college. My legs are far from my favorite part of my body. But y’all. I love this short pattern.
The more I sew, the less I care about what others might be thinking about my body. I am scarred. I have cellulite. I have stretch marks. I now have Hot Pants.
The Heat Wave shorts have two versions- pockets and no pockets. The shorts are pleated in the front and back to allow for that slim waist silhouette.
Once again, the bodysuit was perfect paired with these shorts!
Kristi really nailed this collection! I can’t wait to mix and match a few more versions for my summer wardrobe!! Grab the Confidence Collection while it’s on sale.
Until next time….sewing and sipping,
Stacey

Hi. I have a hard time wearing shorts as well. Shorts are always to short in the back. Did you have to add length at all to this pattern?

I did not. These were made per the original pattern!
