It seems like just yesterday I was sewing hoodies and long sleeve tops. But yep, school is almost out for the summer here in the south. So bring on tank tops, swimsuits, and shorts sewing.
To better prepare everyone for summer, Ellie and Mac is sponsoring a month long Get Ready for Summer Blog Tour. I wanted to try something a little different for this summer. I bought a lot of wovens on clearance at the end of last summer, and they have been calling my name. I used the Ellie and Mac Be Bold (affiliate link) pattern to make this fun and airy crop top.
The Women’s Be Bold contains options for bikini and crop top lengths along with top, tunic and dress lengths. The crop length actually calls for elastic to be used in the bottom hem, but I chose to leave off the elastic for a less fitted look.
I chose the optional ruffle to add to the crop top for a little more interest.
And what’s a pattern without multiple sleeve lengths??? This is the elbow length puff sleeve.
The fabric is from Hobby Lobby’s spring apparel line from last year. I bought it with a kimono in mind due to its sheer nature. But I simply layered a bandeau bra underneath this top to make up for the sheerness yet keep the coolness factor in this Tennessee high humidity summer.
Although I paired it with skinny jeans today, I have a plan to make some high waisted shorts to wear with my Be Bold when summer kicks into full force.
Be sure to check out this woven pattern as a great option for summer when paired with the right lightweight fabric.

What a beautiful top! I really am loving the off the shoulder designs this year. I am thinking this will be one of the next patterns I purchase.
