Petite Stitchery & Co Cassidy Sweater Hack

My last blog post shared my tester version of the Petite Stitchery Cassidy Sweater.  The sweater has a beautiful cross back, but it can also be worn in reverse with the cross in the front.  I had a hard time deciding which way I liked best.  Solution to the problem?  How about hacking it to use the crossover pieces on the front and the back?

Sly Fox Fabrics has this gorgeous floral crushed velvet on the website that made the base for my new Date Night top.

I have been really hesitant to jump on the velvet train.  I am definitely not the most trendy person, but I am so glad I went with this floral velvet.

I did not make any modifications to the pattern pieces.  I simply cut 2 sets of the back pattern pieces, and I assembled each set of crossover pieces separately before attaching at the shoulders.

I paired the top with skinny jeans and ankle boots, but to dress it up more you could pair it with slim leg dress pants and heels.  But who am I kidding?  My date nights are a bit more laid back than that.

I usually prefer tops and dresses that hit at the natural waist, but I love the narrow portion of this top hitting in more of an empire location.

So if you don’t want to decide on wearing the crossover on the Cassidy on the back or the front, do both!!

Until next time…sewing and sipping,
