Women’s Jamie: Made for Mermaids Pattern Test

Jamie. I don’t know about you, but I automatically think James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser. Yep. Big Outlander fan here. I haven’t made a plaid Women’s Jamie poncho yet like Megan Thoman, but her version screams Outlander. And yes, I will have a plaid one very soon.

Now, I have never been a poncho wearer. But here I am, yet again, a changed woman because of the Made for Mermaids team. It amazes me how they take simple silhouettes and make me feel so put together when I am often far from put together.

The Women’s Jamie 2 Way Poncho is a clever design really. A poncho worn one way, and 10 seconds later it can be worn as a cocoon style cardigan without even taking it off.

I mean its genius. The neck hole becomes a peekaboo back.

The weather is not always cold in the winter here in the South so three quarter sleeves for a layering piece will work well indoors and out.

I almost forgot. This olive green rib knit was in a lightweight sweater knit box from the always fabulous Sincerely Rylee Fabrics.

And it wouldn’t be a Pattern Test for me without a second version. I decided I needed a brushed sweater knit version. And I decided it had to be floral even though I have been trying to sew more non-florals.

Well, after searching around, this brushed sweater knit floral was calling my name from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. Perfect as a poncho. Perfect as a cardigan.

It is amazing how fast of a sew the Jamie poncho is. Time to make a million more….

And maybe if you are lucky and you belong to my family, I might be able to be convinced to make one for you for Christmas.

The Women’s and Girl’s Jamie are on sale now! Don’t miss out!

Until next time….sewing and sipping,

Stacey
