Ellie and Mac Tulip Dress

It’s Wacky Wednesday time over at Ellie and Mac once again! The Tulip Dress and Tunic (affiliate link) is one of the stylish patterns on sale for only $1. I purchased the pattern last time it was on Wacky Wednesday because I love the style. However, I do not typically wear form fitting dresses. This one was too cute to pass up. Now, I am upset that I waited so long to make it!

I chose to make the long sleeve version of this dress. I used a 2.5 yard cut of double brushed poly from JoAnn and had a little bit left over (to be used for raglan sleeves on a top, no doubt). One thing I enjoy about Ellie and Mac patterns is that they aren’t jammed packed with options. Sometimes it is nice to buy a pattern and only have to choose sleeve length or dress length.

The back is not cut on the fold which allows for a sway back adjustment if needed. I think I could have used a little more sway back due to my waist to hip ratio. That will be something I address when I make this pattern again.

The front is two solid fronts with gathering on opposite sides to make the tulip hem.

Overall, this pattern is such a steal at $1.00 today (Wednesday, January 23rd). So head on over and check out the Tulip Dress and the other great patterns on sale.

Until next time…sewing and sipping,

Stacey
