Sahara Re-Release: Bella Sunshine Designs Pattern Test

It is an exciting time as many indie pattern designers are expanding their size ranges to include more women in the sewing world.  Bella Sunshine Designs has been updating their patterns recently to include sizes 0-30.  Next up in the upgraded BSD collection is the Sahara Dress and Top.

The Sahara is a fully lined, fitted bodice designed to hit at the natural waist.  No neckband??? No problem. It is great to have a different finish on a neckline compared to my usual neckband.

The skirt portion is a full circle skirt which drapes beautifully and is very forgiving on larger hips.

One of my favorite design features of the Sahara is the low scoop back.  It lets you show some skin but still be comfortable in a regular bra!!!  (My dad reads this, and I am talking about bras.  Sorry, Dad!)

I chose to sew up a tunic with the lower front neckline and 3/4 sleeves.  I wanted to be able to wear this during multiple seasons.  The bodice fabric is solid double brushed poly from Pretty Posh Prints.  The skirt portion is also brushed poly, and it is from Love Adore.

I really love how you can use the same fabric or use coordinating fabrics with the two pieces.

As I mentioned, I went for the tunic length. If you have read my blog before, you know I love a good tunic length. This one has perfect coverage!!

You can’t go wrong with fun and flirty!!  If I could twirl in high heels, I definitely would have in this tunic!

I want to give a big thanks to Melissa and the Bella Sunshine Team for another excellent upgrade to their pattern line up.

You can grab the Sahara Top and Dress on sale between now and Wednesday, October 18th. Check out the Bella Sunshine Designs PDF Pattern Group for more inspiration for your next Sahara.

Until next time…sewing and sipping,

Stacey
