Raise your hand if you are terrified of zippers?!? I am over here raising both of my hands. But like all things sewing related that I have been scared of in the past (neckbands, binding, pants in general, packets, wovens, on and on), it is time to tackle my fear. Thanks to Patterns for Pirates, I was presented with my opportunity.
The Go To Jacket (affiliate link) from P4P is here, and it’s available in Women’s, Men’s and Youth styles. The Go To Jacket has two options both zippered: bomber style and hooded.
You can’t ever have enough hoodies so, of course, I wanted a hooded version. I love how Judy chose a different style hood from her previous patterns.
Let’s pause right here for a minute. I have taken sewing photos of all different types of garments. But let me tell you, taking photos of yourself in a hood is the most ridiculous feeling ever. But here you go anyway.
I love the three piece hood (which I chose to line). I wish I would have taken the time to insert grommets for a drawstring, but that is another fear to tackle on another day.
Another big surprise?!? I love this in the tunic version! Nothing like some good backside coverage.
Thankfully, the zipper was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. I may have seam ripped the basting stitches on it a gazillion times, but that was due to my stupidity of using stripes. I have to stripe match or it’ll drive me nuts.
If I had it to do over, I would have used the solid fabric for the zipper guard piece.
And even though they are hard to see, I used the kangaroo pocket option.
But the final product…
Totally worth it!
Head on over to the Patterns for Pirates Facebook group to see more tester photos for all three patterns! Plus, grab the bundle during the release sale for jackets for the whole family! The release sale prices are good through March 8th until 11:59 CST.
Until next time…sewing and sipping,
Stacey
Your stripe matching is awesome!
