I am so ready for warmer weather.  Tennessee has been playing tricks on us.  Just like two days ago.  It was 80 degrees, and then boom.  It was in the 30’s overnight.  Seriously?

The weather may be all over the place, but I am busy working on my spring and summer wardrobe.  The newest pattern from Patterns for Pirates will definitely be a warm weather staple this year.

The Boho Babydoll has many options from two different top hemlines, a knee length dress, and a maxi versions.  Also, you can choose between tank or sleeves (short, 3/4, or long sleeves).

For testing, I sewed up the tank version with the high low top length.  This is a heathered gray rayon spandex from Pretty Posh Prints.  Rayon spandex worked great due to the gathering.  Fabric that has good drape is essential for this pattern.

The bodice in the front is a curved empire seam with the back seam curving much lower.

I am really not a fan of gathering, but when the end result is this cute it is worth it! I gathered using the two row of basting stitches technique followed by basting the skirt to the bodice with my sewing machine. Then I went back and serged the seam. The basting worked so much better to preserve the gathers than when I just serge the seam.

The tank is finished with bands but you could easily use binding as well. The bands, however, make it such a quick finish.

I keep thinking about how cool this is going to feel during the hot summer, especially since it is designed to have a looser fit.

My next version will definitely be a short sleeve curved hem top. And maybe a dress too. Ahhh!!! I hate it when Team Pirate and Team Mermaid do this to me.

The Boho Babydoll women’s (and youth) is on sale through April 10th midnight CST . Hit it up for a fun addition to your Spring and summer wardrobe!

Until next time….sewing and sipping,

Stacey
